Deputy Interior Minister Jeset revealed that the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has signed MOUs with 100 foundations to provide guidance and coordinate assistance to the public. He acknowledged that some rescue workers feel uneasy due to news about the “Good Deeds Foundation” and advised verifying destination accounts before donating.
On 4 Nov 2026 GMT+7 at the Ministry of Interior, Jeset Thaiset, Deputy Minister of Interior, spoke about collaboration with foundations. He said the DDPM has partnered with over 100 foundations in the past two months through MOUs to provide guidance and primarily assist the public. He acknowledged that during disasters, rescue personnel are essential to alleviate the government's burden in aiding citizens. Jeset attended a meeting to gather information after some rescue units expressed unease. He emphasized that rescue personnel not involved in problematic foundations should be distinguished, as they have records of which foundations actively assist the public, though detailed financial accounts are not available. Foundations entering affected areas must report to the incident command center for registration.
Jeset added that before funds are transferred out, authorities already know whether money goes to foundations or individuals. Therefore, he advised the public to check the destination account before donating. If funds are sent to a personal account, donors should remember that it is a private matter and harder to verify. If money is transferred to a foundation, that foundation is responsible for managing every baht transparently.
