"Rambo Isan" has changed his mind and reverted to his original name "Suporn," revealing it is a source of pride given by his parents at birth after using the name "Sek Sakol" for five years without the hoped-for success.
On 4 Nov 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Suporn Attawong, also known as "Rambo Isan" and former Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister, posted on his personal Facebook alongside an image of official documents confirming his name change back from "Sek Sakol" to his original name "Suporn," the name his parents gave him at birth.
Mr. Suporn stated, "Rambo Isan" wishes to revert to the original name given by my parents at birth, 'Mr. Suporn,' which I believe is the greatest pride in my life because one must always be grateful for the kindness and sacrifices of one's parents who gave us life and enabled us to stand and do good deeds in return for our homeland, right?”
The document Mr. Suporn shared is an official name change certificate issued by the Khon Buri District Office in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, dated 2 Nov 2026 GMT+7, clearly stating the former name "Sek Sakol" and the new name "Suporn."
Previously, in 2021, while serving as Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister in Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha’s government, Mr. Suporn changed his name from "Suporn" to "Sek Sakol." He explained that the new name, meaning 'one who causes completeness and stability,' was given by a revered senior monk, abbot of a temple in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, whom he has long respected. The change aimed to bring auspiciousness, gain favor from senior government figures, and enhance his political career with greater success.
At that time, Prime Minister Gen. Prayut issued him a new ID card, inquired about the name’s meaning, and encouraged him to think and act well, work sincerely for the country, repay gratitude, and maintain love for his homeland. Most importantly, he emphasized love for the nation, religion, and loyalty to the monarchy, values Mr. Suporn has steadfastly upheld in accordance with the former prime minister’s guidance.
Recently, Mr. Suporn decided to return to the original name given by his parents, expressing pride in resuming its use and underscoring the importance of recognizing and appreciating the kindness of one’s parents.
