The Navy spokesperson clarified the issue involving a "senior naval officer" linked to Boom Panadda's financial transactions, affirming it was a misunderstanding. The National Police Commissioner expressed consideration about waiting during the press briefing, which was unrelated to the case.
4 Nov 2026 GMT+7 Rear Admiral Chanin Sriyapai, Navy spokesperson, addressed the news linking a senior naval officer to the financial dealings of Ms. Panadda Wongphudee, or Boom Panadda, chairperson of the Good Deeds Foundation. He confirmed it was a misunderstanding stemming from events during a joint press conference held by Navy officials and the National Police Commissioner on 3 November.
The press briefing concerned the seizure of ammunition and weapons in the jurisdiction of the First Naval Area Command in Trat Province, with Navy officials participating alongside the National Police Commissioner (NPC). However, during preparations, reporters questioned the NPC about Boom Panadda's case. The NPC responded briefly, then said, "considering the Navy," a short phrase without further explanation, which may have led to misinterpretation.
The Navy spokesperson further stated, that the true meaning of "considering" was the NPC being mindful that Navy personnel had to stand waiting during the joint briefing, and it was not about being considerate of or related to Boom Panadda's case in any way. Moreover, the National Police Commissioner has clarified that the matter is unrelated to the Navy. The Navy wishes to confirm that the rumors linking senior naval officers to Boom Panadda's financial case arose from a misunderstanding of the context during the press conference conversation.
