Anutin urges the public to live their lives normally and not be alarmed after the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation advised preparing a 72-hour "must-survive" bag. He points out that Thailand is a major food producer with a complete supply chain and will never face food shortages.
At 11:45 a.m. on 5 Nov 2026 at the Government House, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Chanvirakul addressed the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation's recommendation to prepare a survival bag for 72 hours to handle all hazards, which caused the public to stockpile goods. He said there is no such issue. Thailand is a rice bowl with strong food security. It is a food-producing country with networks and supply chains all within Thailand. There is nothing to worry about. The government is aware that Thai people must have access to food and that shortages will never occur.
When asked if people can continue their normal lives without stockpiling, Anutin said we must live normally and not be shaken by issues that may arise in other countries that are not rice bowls or food producers. Those countries may have technologies or cybercrime issues, but why not see that this makes Thailand more important on the world stage? As a country producing all types of food—fruits, plants, vegetables, agricultural products, processed goods, rice, cassava, sugar—the entire supply chain is within Thailand.
Regarding preparedness for cyberattacks, Anutin said Thailand is an exporter and our supply chains are involved. It is the responsibility of producers in the industries to take care of this matter.
