Ministry of Foreign Affairs Explains Multiple Countries Emergency Supply Announcements as Routine Measures

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the announcements from several countries urging citizens to stockpile emergency supplies are standard precautionary measures. The overall situation has not reached a crisis level. Thai embassies worldwide have been ordered to prepare assistance plans for Thai nationals around the clock.

On 5 Nov 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Jaitai Upakarnitiket, Director-General of the Information Department and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed that today the Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs chaired a meeting with Thai embassies and consulates-general across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the United States to closely monitor and assess the situation.

The assessment found that although uncertainty remains in several areas, the announcements for citizens abroad to stock emergency supplies are merely routine preventive measures by each country. Therefore, the public is urged not to panic or become alarmed, as these are not indications of a crisis.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all Thai embassies have already prepared both policy-level plans and local operational plans to promptly assist Thai nationals abroad in case of emergencies. Thai citizens overseas are advised to strictly follow local authorities’ guidance and announcements from Thai embassies. In urgent situations, they can immediately contact Thai embassies or consulates-general via emergency hotline numbers and various online channels.
