The Minister of Industry revealed progress in a four-day campaign inspecting 337 out of 1,500 industrial waste factories in five target provinces, enforcing strict legal measures. A summary report will be submitted to the Electronic Waste Problem Resolution Committee on 11 Nov 2026.
6 Nov 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Warawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Industry, stated that Mr. Phasakorn Chairat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, and Mr. Decha Chatuthananan, Chief Inspector of the Ministry and leader of the special task force, reported progress on inspections of industrial waste disposal factories (factories number 105 and 106). After ordering strict supervision and legal enforcement, a special task force led by ministry inspectors has been deployed to command operations in each province to ensure effective and lawful action.
During the targeted sweep across five provinces—Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Prachinburi, and Samut Prakan—from 2-5 November, officials inspected 337 factories. Out of the total target of 1,500 factories, operators have cooperated well with the inspections.
The inspections found several factories violating laws and permit conditions, with three main violations identified:
1. Installation or use of machinery not matching the approved permits.
2. Failure to submit legally required reports.
3. Pollution control systems not meeting standards.
The Department of Industrial Works took immediate decisive action, issuing administrative orders under the Factory Act B.E. 2535 (Sections 37 and 39) to suspend activities, demand corrections, or temporarily halt operations. They also enforced the Hazardous Substances Act B.E. 2535 (Sections 52 and 54) to ensure hazardous materials are managed properly according to scientific standards, protecting communities and the environment.
However, officials have so far inspected only part of the target. They ask for more time for the task force to continue working fully to reach the nationwide goal of 1,500 factories. Progress updates will be provided continuously. All inspection data, administrative orders, and legal actions will be summarized and presented to the Electronic Waste Problem Resolution Committee meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Mrs. Supachai Sutthaphan on 11 Nov 2026, to establish national policies and measures.
