Supachai Leads Opposition to 7-Vote Legal Committee Resolution, Plans Ethics Complaint Against Rom and Opposition Committee Members

Supachai Jaïsamut announced opposition to the legal committee's 7-vote resolution, deeming it improper regarding the summons of Anutin to explain to parliament. He plans to file ethics complaints against Rom and opposition committee members, criticizing them to return to proper conduct instead of favoring actions that are more convenient yet illegal.

At 11:20 a.m. on 6 November 2026 GMT+7. Mr. Supachai Jaïsamut, party-list MP of Bhumjaithai Party. Together with Mr. Natthanon Srikokuea, Songkhla MP; Mr. Nattawut Prasertsuwan, Suphanburi MP; Mr. Rittirong Phumisawat, Maha Sarakham MP; and Ms. Rinlita Adisa, party-list MP of Bhumjaithai, all members of the parliamentary Legal, Justice and Human Rights Committee, they held a press conference at the parliament concerning the legal committee’s unanimous 7-vote resolution on 5 November to summon Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to explain to the parliamentary session after failing to comply with the 2025 summons authority law by not ordering Mr. Narucha Kosasivilai, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, to report to the legal committee investigating corruption in the local official exam (S.T.).

Mr. Supachai stated, the vote by the opposition side of the legal committee led by Mr. Rangsima Rom, party-list MP of the Move Forward Party, together with Democrat Party MPs who are committee members, was improper and violated the rules, as the quorum of eight out of fifteen total members was not met. At the meeting, only six committee members were present in the room, so staff called a Democrat committee member to join the vote without informing or inviting their side, indicating a covert intention. Therefore, the 7-vote resolution was against the rules and the law, violating the constitution. It is also known that parliamentary secretariat officials raised objections, but Mr. Rangsima said he was not informed. As committee chair, Mr. Rangsima must act impartially, transparently, and uphold rules and ethics.

"We therefore oppose this resolution and are preparing to consider ethics violations by the committee chair and members whose behavior supported this, to file with the parliamentary ethics committee, alleging intentional harm with facts recorded in meeting minutes. I understand the political motives, but actions violating the constitution and rules damage the entire legal committee's reputation. Moreover, investigating local exam corruption is beyond the legal committee's jurisdiction."

When asked if Bhumjaithai's committee members will need to monitor future legal committee meetings to prevent recurrence, Supachai replied that matters must be handled straightforwardly. If a vote is required, officials must contact members to ensure attendance. He noted he has served as committee chair without dividing opposition and government sides, but the current issue arises from attempts to politicize the committee.

Regarding concerns about future cooperation, Supachai said he is not worried but pointed out that these events impair the committee's ability to serve the public because the focus is attacking the government. They have received various complaints, including NGO funding from international organizations and human rights issues in the three southern border provinces, which they plan to propose for committee consideration. However, currently, actions are driven solely by the committee chair. He cautioned against abusing assumed powers that do not actually exist, calling such acts overreach. He has previously worked well with others, but differing ideals and departures from rules have created tension. He urged all to act properly, not to pursue favored actions that are actually illegal.
