The Prime Minister admitted feeling shocked and saddened by the "Boom Panadda" case and ordered the Ministry of Interior and the Department of Provincial Administration to review foundations nationwide. He emphasized belief in karma, stating that anyone who misuses charitable donations or funds for unintended purposes will face consequences.,
At 14:10 on 6 Nov 2026 at the Government House, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul spoke about progress in regulating foundations nationwide and whether he had given any additional orders. He said this is an issue requiring reorganization. He expressed shock and regret, noting that those who act for the benefit of others, helping the disadvantaged, should not seek personal gain. He has instructed the Ministry of Interior and the Department of Provincial Administration to closely review foundations. Any foundation set up as a front to misuse donations collected from citizens for personal benefit will face strict prosecution.
When asked about Ms. Panadda Wongpudee, a former famous actress and host and chairperson of the Good Deeds Organization Foundation, who was arrested this morning, and whether the Ministry of Interior continues to investigate her foundation and violations under the Public Charitable Fundraising Act, Anutin said that, to his knowledge, the Royal Thai Police have conducted investigations and are confident that illegal and dishonest acts occurred, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.
Regarding a chat message from Ms. Panadda apologizing and claiming the issue is political, the Prime Minister said he does not know which political forces might be involved. He stated that when laws are broken, there is still a process to explain or defend oneself, and the accused can exercise their right to respond to allegations. The government assures full justice for all parties, including those harmed who donated money believing it would be used for charitable purposes to help the needy. If the funds are not used as intended, legal action is warranted. He reiterated that there is no political involvement and emphasized the government's policy of “anonymous but accountable” — anyone who commits wrongdoing will be held responsible regardless of their status.
When asked about a male influencer with the initial K., known for sleeping on a boat and linked to foundations, Anutin replied, “I don’t know.” Reporters pressed, noting that many connect this to Mr. Kanthas Phongpaiboonwech, or Gun Jomphalang, who has been linked to a political party and alleged to cause case delays. Anutin responded, “I really don’t know,” then asked, “Does Gun like to sleep on boats?” emphasizing again that he is unaware. He added that anyone clearly engaged in charitable work with good intentions deserves respect and support. However, if one believes in karma as in Thai tradition, anyone who misuses charitable or donation funds for improper purposes will inevitably face karmic consequences.
