Worachai Retorts to Chuan: Clean Your Own House Before Criticizing Others

Worachai retorts to Chuan: clean your own house before criticizing others, emphasizing that the normal justice process is not the one established by the coup regime.

On 8 Nov 2026, Worachai Hema, former Member of Parliament for Samut Prakan from the Pheu Thai Party, responded to former Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai's special lecture to delegates and allies from the Liberal International network. Chuan criticized some groups for viewing democracy as a stage for seeking political gain, noting one family had produced four prime ministers yet could not sustain power. Worachai said it was clear Chuan was referring to the Shinawatra family, who attained the premiership through democratic elections. Their inability to maintain power stemmed from being ousted by a coup and the establishment of special organizations to prosecute them, leading to cases against former Prime Ministers Thaksin and Yingluck Shinawatra. Worachai pointed out that Chuan, a former prime minister, former parliamentary speaker, and senior politician, criticizes only opponents but fails to acknowledge corruption cases involving his own family members, who are subject to normal judicial processes—not those set up by the coup regime. Therefore, Worachai urged Chuan to "clean his own house" before criticizing others.
