Pait Udomsuksa School Announces Closure After 55 Years of Operation

"Pait Udomsuksa School" sent a letter to parents announcing its closure after 55 years of operation. The reasons cited include demographic shifts with fewer births and financial instability. The school is coordinating with nearby schools to accept students continuing their education.

On 1 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reporters reported that Pait Udomsuksa School, a well-known private school, sent a letter to parents announcing the suspension of teaching and closure of the school after more than 55 years. It stated that over the past 10 years, private schools have faced a crisis leading to continuous closures, with over 40 schools closing in the 2024 academic year alone. Two main causes were cited: 1. A declining birth rate and demographic shift toward an aging society; 2. Economic instability and financial downturn.

Additionally, during 2020-2021 (2023-2024 CE), the severe COVID-19 pandemic impacted all sectors and occupations. These issues directly affected Pait Udomsuksa School as well. Throughout these challenges, the school tried to maintain quality education that keeps pace with global changes despite rising costs such as academic expenses, utilities, government-mandated teacher salary increases in two phases, minimum wage hikes for various workers, and expenses related to student health and safety. Moreover, some parents delayed or failed to pay tuition fees, causing liquidity problems for the school's operations.

In the 2023 academic year, the school attempted to address these issues to continue operating by downsizing, reducing the number of teachers and staff. However, it still faced long-term financial management challenges.

The school's administrative board therefore decided to cease teaching and close Pait Udomsuksa School starting from the 2026 academic year (beginning May 2026). The school recognizes that this closure will affect students and parents, so it plans to provide the following support measures.

1. The school will distribute educational documents including two copies of the student certification (Form Por Por 7) and one copy of the academic transcript (Form Por Por 1) to assist with transferring schools. These will be given out on Monday, 30 March 2026 GMT+7.

2. The school has coordinated with nearby schools to consider accepting Pait Udomsuksa students on a special basis, as follows:

  • Saengsom Kindergarten
  • Sudarak Kindergarten
  • Prangtip Kindergarten
  • Chananan Kindergarten
  • Saengsom School
  • Sarasas Witaed Saimai School

  • Chokchai Hathairat School
  • Chokchai Ladprao School
  • Chokchai Rangsit School

The school explained that it could not immediately notify parents after deciding to close because Ministry of Education regulations require completion of closure procedures first before informing parents. However, the school will continue teaching through the second semester as usual.

Additionally, the school has scheduled meetings with parents of students in various classes to inform them about the closure details and support measures on Wednesday, 3 December 2025 GMT+7.
