Parents of Students at Phaitudomsuksa School Protest School Closure, Fear Impact on Children

A number of parents of students at Phaitudomsuksa School held signs opposing the school's closure, explaining that there was no time to prepare and fearing it would negatively affect the children who must start anew mid-term.

In the case of Phaitudomsuksa, a well-known private school, it sent a letter to parents announcing its closure after 55 years due to demographic shifts, fewer births, and financial instability. The school coordinated with nearby schools to accept transferring students and scheduled a parent meeting to explain details on Wednesday, 3 December, as previously reported.

Update: On 2 December 2025 GMT+7, reporters noted that at Phaitudomsuksa School on Viphavadi Rangsit Road, a group of Grade 5 parents held signs protesting, stating, “Oppose! The closure of Phaitudomsuksa School. Where will Grade 5 students go to study?”

A parent representative said they held the protest signs because the closure was so sudden that parents had almost no time to prepare or find a new school for their children. They chose this school because they trusted its system and rules and did not expect such an abrupt closure. They had hoped their children would complete all six years here after paying the entrance fee.

They also acknowledged that a sudden school transfer could emotionally affect the children, with some feeling sad and crying because they did not want to change schools or start over.

However, reporters said that on 3 December, Phaitudomsuksa School will hold a meeting for parents at the school's Chalermphrakiat Conference Room to explain details about the closure and available assistance. They asked parents to limit attendance to no more than two per family due to space constraints.
