The Air Force explained its air operations, affirming attacks targeted solely military objectives within Cambodia's operational area, while giving highest priority to preventing any impact on civilians not involved in the conflict.
On 8 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Air Marshal Chakrit Thamwichai, Air Force spokesman, revealed that this operation was conducted jointly with Suranaree forces to counter Cambodian military actions posing a direct threat to Thailand's security, as well as to the safety of civilians living near the border and personnel deployed in the area.
Furthermore, operational intelligence confirmed the movement of heavy military equipment, troop deployments, and preparations for fire support by Cambodia, which could potentially expand military operations threatening stability along the Thai border. This led to the decision to employ air power to deter and reduce Cambodia's military capabilities as necessary to protect state security and civilian safety in the area.
The Air Force carried out the mission carefully, targeting only military infrastructure, weapon stockpiles, command centers, and combat support routes associated with activities assessed as threats to security. They also reviewed the strike outcomes to ensure the operation complied with the international law principle of the Right of Self-Defence under the UN Charter, strictly adhering to the principles of Necessity and Proportionality.
The Air Force recognizes the critical importance of safeguarding the lives and property of civilians in the area and remains committed to implementing all measures to ensure operations are based on security needs and minimize unnecessary risks.
The Air Force confirmed it will conduct air operations responsibly and respond to threats affecting sovereignty and public safety, with the ultimate goal of preserving regional stability and preventing further escalation of the situation.
