Pickup Truck Delivering Donations to Soldiers Crashes into Electric Pole, Catches Fire and Is Completely Destroyed

A pickup truck delivering donations to soldiers crashed into an electric pole, causing a fire that completely engulfed the vehicle. Fortunately, the driver escaped in time and suffered only minor injuries. The incident is believed to have been caused by falling asleep at the wheel.

On 5 Jan 2026, Police Lieutenant Nakhin Sirikul, investigator from Mai Rut Police Station in Trat Province, received a report of a pickup truck crashing into an electric pole with a fire engulfing the vehicle and one person trapped inside. Upon receiving the report, he alerted the Sawang Boon Rescue Association in Trat's Khlong Yai District and proceeded to the scene, coordinating with the Mai Rut Subdistrict Administrative Organization fire truck.

At the scene on Route 3 leading into Khlong Yai District near Ban Huong Som, Mai Rut Subdistrict, Khlong Yai District, Trat Province, authorities found the pickup truck had collided with a streetlight pole in the road median and was engulfed in flames. Officials sprayed water to extinguish the fire. Relatives had already removed the driver and taken him to Khlong Yai Hospital. The driver was identified as Mr. Jakkrid, 36, who sustained minor injuries to his mouth and leg. The vehicle, a gray enclosed pickup truck registered in Trat, was completely destroyed by fire, with scattered vehicle parts littering the scene.

Relatives of the injured driver explained that Mr. Jakkrid was driving to deliver donated items to soldiers at the 3rd Marine Ranger Control Unit at Khao Lan. Afterward, he was heading back to his home in Khlong Yai District when the accident occurred. The truck collided with a streetlight pole and caught fire. It is suspected that Mr. Jakkrid may have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing him to lose control and crash into the streetlight pole at the U-turn spot where the accident happened.

Police Lieutenant Nakhin Sirikul documented the scene with photographs as evidence before proceeding to follow up on the injured driver's condition at Khlong Yai Hospital.
