Reminder: Nationwide Cell Broadcast Warning Test at 2 PM Today

A reminder that at 2 PM today (20 Jan), the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation will test the nationwide Cell Broadcast warning system. Mobile phones will emit an alert sound lasting about 8 seconds. The public is asked not to panic.

On 20 Jan 2026, a reporter stated that at 2 PM today, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation will conduct a nationwide Cell Broadcast test. Mobile phones will sound an alert for about 8 seconds, with a message displayed on the screen saying, "This is a warning test, not a real situation, from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM). Please do not panic."

This warning system test will be conducted simultaneously nationwide, covering all 76 provinces and Bangkok.

For the general public wishing to configure their devices to receive Cell Broadcast alerts, instructions are as follows:

• For iOS devices: Go to Settings > Notifications > enable Amber Alerts and Emergency Alerts.
• For Android devices: Go to Settings > Safety and Emergency and enable notifications in all menus.
