The Deputy Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration launched Operation Dissipate Chiang Dao Mist, raiding and arresting six individuals including the district chief and municipal officials in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province, for illegally granting Thai nationality to foreigners.
On 22 January 2026, it was reported thatthe Department of Provincial Administration's official fanpageposted that Mr. Withoon Sirinukul, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, coordinated with officials from five agencies to launch Operation Dissipate Chiang Dao Mist. They executed arrest warrants for the district chief and municipal officials in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province, totaling six individuals, for illegally granting permanent residence and Thai nationality documents to at least nine foreigners from ethnic groups.
