Bang Khen District Inspects Cat Cafe Following Animal Abuse Clip, Urgently Seeks New Homes for Cats

The Bang Khen District Office rushed to inspect a cat cafe after receiving complaints of animal abuse. The owner has ceased operations and is cooperating with the investigation, while animal welfare groups are working quickly to find new homes for the cats.

On 27 Jan 2026, reports emerged that an online video showed animal abuse inside a Bangkok cat cafe, where cats were thrown and slammed against a wall, sparking widespread criticism.

Most recently, on 26 Jan 2026,the Environmental and Sanitation Division of the Bang Khen District Officevisited the site to investigate after public requests to examine the cat cafe due to suspected severe animal abuse. A video had been posted showing the owner hitting and throwing cats against a wall.

The inspection found no license for food service at the cafe. The owner has already ceased the cat cafe business and is willing to cooperate with the investigation and accept legal penalties if found guilty.

Moving forward, an animal welfare foundation and the owner will find new homes for all the cats. Interested members of the public can contact the responsible foundation, the owner, or the Environmental Division of the Bang Khen District Office.
