The wife of Lt. Samatcha, a flight instructor who died in the Chiang Mai plane crash, posted a tribute saying she believes he did his best and that there is no need to worry about anything here.
An AT-6TH attack aircraft, assigned to Squadron 411, Aircraft Number 1, Wing 41, crashed into a forested area in Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai. The plane broke into pieces, and locals reported hearing two loud explosions before the entire aircraft was engulfed in flames. It is believed the pilot sacrificed himself by steering the plane away from populated areas. The pilots were later identified as Lt. Samatcha Khunmas, the first pilot and flight instructor, and Capt. Korawit Jankid, the second pilot. The Air Force Commander ordered an urgent investigation into the crash. The aircraft was brand new, recently delivered from the United States, and had been in service for only a few months. The incident occurred on the morning of 29 Jan 2016, as previously reported.
On the evening of 29 Jan, Lt. Samatcha Khunmas's wife posted a tribute on Facebook, saying, "It took only a few years to find true love, and then it was lost. For me, P'Bom came into my life when others belittled me.
For me, P'Bom made me see my worth and feel proud of myself.
For me, P'Bom was more than a life partner; he was a close friend, a challenger, and like a three-year-old Samatcha who would tease me to make me react.
For P'Bom, waking up early every day to fly was what he loved most.
For P'Bom, being a flight instructor and teaching students was something he cherished.
For P'Bom, every student was like a child he loved and was proud of.
I am confident in P'Bom and believe that in this event, he did his best. This last journey will be a long one. P'Bom, please don’t worry about anything here. I am very strong, and you know that well. Fly happily. I will fulfill your last wish… our child will definitely be born in the Year of the Horse. I love you, see you again.
After the post was shared, many people expressed their condolences and offered support to the family.
