Sakchai Garments Clarifies Suit Tailoring for Social Security Over 3 Years, Affirms Legitimate Work, Not an Abandoned Factory

"Sakchai Garments" clarifies the issue of tailoring suits for Social Security over three years, confirms its abandoned status, and asserts it is not an abandoned factory and that it accepted the work legitimately.

Following the Social Security Office's explanation regarding the controversy over tailoring suits for 7,000 Social Security employees with a budget of 35 million baht, document reviews revealed that over a 14-year period from 2012 to 2025, private contractors were hired at least four times under four contracts, spending a total of 152 million baht, as follows.

  • In 2012, 6,000 suits were tailored for 34.73 million baht, with the winning bidder being Sakchai Garments Limited Partnership.
  • In 2015, 7,000 suits were tailored for 40.5 million baht, again won by Sakchai Garments Limited Partnership.
  • In 2019, 7,350 suits were provided for 42 million baht, with Sakchai Garments Limited Partnership as the winning bidder.
  • In 2024 (by direct appointment), 35 million baht was allocated, and the winner was the Veterans Welfare Organization.

According to a check on the Department of Business Development's website, "Sakchai Garments" was registered as a limited partnership in 1981 with registered capital of 500,000 baht. Its legal status was marked as "abandoned" on 15 September 2010. A site visit to the company’s address in Phra Khanong Subdistrict, Khlong Toei District, Bangkok, found it to be an abandoned building, appearing unfinished in construction.

Contacting the factory owner revealed that they had won the bid three times and followed proper procurement procedures. The owner said they merely accepted the work and did not know the funding source, only learning through the news that the money came from insured persons. As for the factory location being an abandoned building, that is not their actual factory; the real factory is not abandoned.
