A father was in tears after his son was ordered by a teacher to do 800 sit-ups for failing to submit assignments in five subjects, causing such pain that he could not walk. The father had to feed him and carry him to the bathroom. The teacher reportedly told the father that if he was unhappy, he could file a complaint, showing no concern for the student.
This incident took place on 4 February 2026, as reported by a Facebook page. The page 'Je Moi v+' revealed the story. It detailed an account from a parent whose son was punished by his school teacher with 800 sit-ups for failing to submit assignments on time, leading to physical distress.
After returning home, the boy experienced severe leg pain. His father quickly took him to a doctor for urgent examination. Initial blood tests showed normal kidney function, but muscle enzyme results are pending and will be rechecked in three days.
The doctor diagnosed the boy and prescribed rest with elevated legs and no walking for three days, advising him to drink about three liters of water daily to avoid complications.
The father questioned the appropriateness of such punishment, considering that excessive sit-ups could cause severe muscle injury. He suggested the school consider alternative punishments such as cleaning bathrooms or community service activities.
Shockingly, this may not be an isolated case. A hospital screening nurse reported that a week earlier, two female students from the same school received similar treatment and were admitted with comparable symptoms.
Following the post's circulation, many people commented, sharing similar experiences such as being forced to do 30 sit-ups by holding arms of 15 others, nearly collapsing, or recalling near-disabling punishments from teachers who seemed unaware of such news.
Subsequently, reporters visited the boy's home and met his father, Mr. Adisak, 45, who said he never imagined a teacher would punish a student this way. Since the incident, the teacher has not contacted them; only the father called from the start. The teacher admitted fault and said she would take responsibility but also told the father sharply, “If you’re unhappy, you can file a complaint,” without any concern for the student. On 3 February, when the father tried to meet the school principal, a deputy principal received him instead. Later, the teacher who punished the boy confronted the father, asking if he intended to discuss the matter, to which he replied no. The teacher said, “Okay, no discussion, understood,” again showing no concern for the boy’s condition.
Mr. Adisak told reporters it is very painful as a father. His 13-year-old son is naturally stubborn but should be disciplined in ways that are not harmful. He worries who would be responsible if his son’s condition worsened. Since stopping school, the boy has been helping sell soy milk daily because his mother recently went abroad to earn money for the family. This is the third day the father has not worked selling soy milk because he must care for his son, who still cannot walk and requires feeding, medication, and assistance to the bathroom.
Reporters entered the room to meet the boy, identified as Dol (a pseudonym), 13 years old, lying on a bed with his legs supported by a thick rubber pillow. He spoke with a pained expression, saying his calves hurt severely. He recounted that on Monday morning, after the flag-raising ceremony, the teacher called the class to ask who had not completed assignments. Since he had not done five subjects, he was punished with 400 sit-ups. He forced himself to complete them. In the evening, the same teacher asked again who had not done the reading assignment, and since he admitted it, he was made to do another 400 sit-ups. He barely managed to get home and was bedridden until his father took him to the doctor, who ordered three days off school and no walking. Now he feels sorry for his father who must care for him and cannot work.
Mr. Adisak added that regarding discipline, the school can handle it internally. However, since his son was injured, he and relatives have discussed and plan to file a legal complaint, but for now, they want the boy to recover fully.
If the teacher who ordered the punishment provides any explanation, it will be reported accordingly.
