Most recently, on 6 Feb 2026 GMT+7, the Facebook page Kai Khao Look Mar posted a video clip along with the message: "In this clip, Ploy wishes to clarify the details of the incident and the cause of death of little Kai Khao. It's a bit long because I want everyone to understand. She is truly at peace now."
In the clip, Khun Ploy said, "Previously, my mental state was quite bad—I cried all day, couldn't eat, and wasn’t sure of the exact cause of Kai Khao’s death, so I hesitated to give a conclusion. Kai Khao was always very healthy, even though she was once a stray cat. We took her for annual health check-ups regularly. There were never issues with liver, kidneys, or stones; everything was very normal. We have had Kai Khao for six years now, and she was probably over 10 years old."
That day’s incident began when Kai Khao and Kai Jiao were play-fighting, not biting hard but slapping with their paws. Kai Jiao’s claws, which were sharp, scratched the conjunctiva of Kai Khao’s eye, causing it to tear. The caretaker hurriedly took her to the regular hospital. Upon arrival, she seemed normal; the doctor treated the wound and checked the eye—there were no alarming symptoms.
While driving home, Kai Khao began to pant heavily. The vet advised turning on the air conditioner or fan to help her breathe easier. Once home, the panting stopped. Kai Khao walked and lay down, but within five minutes vomited red fluid. They immediately rushed her to the nearest hospital, less than five minutes away, where Kai Khao went into shock and stopped breathing.
The doctor promptly performed CPR, administered medication, and oxygen. The first and second CPR attempts failed. Red fluid then came from her mouth and nose. Everyone was confused about what had happened to Kai Khao. That day, we didn’t ask the doctor about the cause of death because we weren't ready to accept it.
Later, after consulting the doctor, we were told that one possible cause was Kai Khao’s advanced age. Although she had no previous chronic illness, her older age might have led to heart disease that had never been detected before. The doctor thought it might have been a small spot that was undetectable during check-ups. The doctor concluded that the cause of Kai Khao’s death was acute heart failure.
We have always cared for and loved Kai Khao like a child. Although I am now able to explain the cause without crying, it doesn’t mean I am not still grieving. I would like to thank everyone for their support."
