The Meteorological Department forecasts the weather for election day on 8 Feb 2026, advising voters to cast their ballots early in the morning as many provinces risk afternoon thunderstorms.
On 7 Feb 2026, Mr. Surapong Sarapa, Director of the Weather Forecasting Division at the Meteorological Department, revealed the weather forecast for election day on Sunday, 8 Feb 2026. He said that this period marks the end of the winter season with unstable weather. In particular, on 6-7 Feb 2026, temperatures will begin to rise, with many areas experiencing hot weather during the day.
For the weather on 8 Feb, a new cold air mass will move down and collide with warm air, causing thunderstorms in some areas—especially in the lower Central region, Bangkok metropolitan area, and the Eastern region. Afternoon thunderstorms are likely, which could disrupt travel to polling stations. Therefore, it is recommended to vote in the morning, which is considered the most suitable time.
In the Northeastern region, morning temperatures will drop to around 15-16 degrees Celsius, with daytime temperatures not exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, but strong winds are expected. Meanwhile, the Northern region will have mostly cloudy skies with some rain in certain areas during the afternoon.
In the Eastern region, particularly in Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces, special caution is advised. Mornings may only see developing rain clouds, but rainfall will increase significantly in the afternoon. In the Southern region, there is a chance of rain in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, and down to Surat Thani, with some areas experiencing thunderstorms.
