After 18-Year-Old Shoots at Patong School, Doctors Page Issues Highest Warning: Many Drug-Induced Psychosis Cases, Urges Swift Drug Control

Following the case of an 18-year-old shooting at Patong School, a medical Facebook page issued the highest warning level, stating that incidents of drug-induced violent attacks will continue to rise due to many people experiencing drug psychosis, and called on authorities to accelerate drug control efforts.

In the incident, an 18-year-old male with a psychiatric history related to substance abuse stole a police officer's firearm and carried out an attack at Patong Prathankiriwat School, Patong Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. He took students hostage, fatally shot the school principal, and injured two female students on the evening of 11 Feb 2026, as previously reported.

Regarding this matter, the Facebook page "Learn Medicine by Dr. Kaeo and Dr. Nat"posted a warning message from the hospital stating:“We hereby issue the highest-level alert: reports of men in drug-induced psychosis attacking others will increase continuously. There are many drug addicts and widespread drug-induced hallucinations. These people become violent, acting like crazed animals when under the influence. We urge authorities to urgently resolve this and closely monitor the outcomes.

Do not think this issue is distant or irrelevant to your community. Even millionaires shopping in malls can be killed by drug addicts. Please address this problem seriously. Society is sick. Even young cases are now suffering psychiatric illness caused by methamphetamine and other substances.”

After the post was made, many people commented, including calls to make drug control a national agenda, noting that as long as corruption remains unresolved, the public must continue to suffer. It seems there is no real solution; people must take care of themselves.Others agreed with the doctors, saying pregnant women also abuse drugs and expressing concern for school children amid weak security systems, urging authorities to take serious and decisive action on this issue.
