Urgent Check: Android and iOS Operating Systems Before Accessing Mobile Banking Apps

Only one day remains—urgent reminder to check your Android and iOS operating systems before accessing bank apps, as Mobile Banking transactions will not be possible starting 14 Feb 2026.

This is a crucial matter that everyone using Mobile Banking services at any bank in Thailand needs to be aware of.

Ms. Lalida Pertwittayatan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that the Thai Bankers' Association, in collaboration with the Banking Information Security Coordination Center (TB-CERT), is upgrading security measures for Mobile Banking applications across all banks in Thailand by requiring that from 14 Feb 2026 onwards, banking apps will only support devices running operating systems at or above specified minimum versions.

The minimum operating system versions are as follows:

  • iOS (iPhone/iPad) version 14 or higher.
  • Android version 10 or higher.

Devices running iOS below version 14 or Android below version 10 will no longer be able to access banking applications.

These measures aim to enhance the security of financial transactions and reduce risks from malware, phishing, and cyberattacks, since older operating systems have security vulnerabilities and do not receive necessary security patches to defend against new threats. Cybercriminals often exploit these vulnerabilities in outdated systems to steal personal data or gain unauthorized account access.

What should users with devices below the required standards do?

Users with devices below the specified standards will not be able to use Mobile Banking apps, which could disrupt their transactions. Some devices may not support operating system upgrades, so users might need to consider replacing their devices for security reasons.

The Thai Bankers' Association stated: “This update is an important step to reduce malware risks and ensure digital transactions remain secure for all users. We recommend all customers check their device compatibility and update in advance to avoid service interruptions.”
