IT Expert Reveals Security Flaw in Voter Data Personal Details Including Parents Names Sold

An IT expert has revealed informationon "registered voters"showing security vulnerabilities that allowed data extraction, including voters' parents' names, with evidence of data being sold for a few hundred baht.

On 15 Feb 2026, the issue continues to attract public attention and discussion regardingthe 2026 election.Previously, concerns were raised about"ballot papers"which contained barcodes and QR codes. When scanned, they showed a unique code, causing the public to worry that these codes might trace back to individual voters, compromising ballot secrecy, sparking the trending hashtag #InvalidElection on social media.

The Election Commission later clarified that the barcodes on ballots serve as a security measure to identify which batch and polling station the ballot belongs to, as a control measure by the commission, and are not linked to any political party.

Recently, Mr. Thanarat Kuawattanaphan, a private sector IT expert, posted imageswith a message on Facebook stating that a White Hacker reported the voter detail verification system lacks cybersecurity measures, leading to nationwide voter data leaks."Across the country."The leaked data, especially the sequence in the voter registry, wasincluded in the original database, making it easier to determine how individuals voted.

He emphasized that this vulnerability is due to the absence of cybersecurity controls. Anyone could extract the entire national database. Later, he updated that"The voter registry system is now secured with basic cybersecurity protections in place. The door is no longer wide open."

However, later Mr. Thanarat also posted,"Okay, I have clear images now. Someone has extracted the recently leaked voter list and combined it with previously leaked data, producing a truly alarming dataset. It even includes parents' names. This data set is being traded within groups for just a few hundred baht."

Following the disclosure, many people have commented andcriticized the situation extensively. If the Election Commission or related agencies provide further explanations, we will report them accordingly.. Thank you for the information from Facebook page Thanarat Kuawattanaphan.
