Kruba Chaiwat experienced a sudden irregular heartbeat and was urgently admitted to hospital. Meanwhile, the legal team and representatives of Wat Pa Chana Jai have declared their position, welcoming investigations in all cases and are currently gathering important documents as evidence to clarify the facts.
Updates on the hot issue regarding Wat Pa Chana Jai meditation center in Muak Lek district, Saraburi province, where Kruba Chaiwat, the abbot, is under scrutiny for allegedly encroaching on more than 2,000 rai of Sor Por Kor land.
At 14:00 on 21 February 2026, lawyer Surasak Meechai, representing the temple, informed reporters that today, Kruba Chaiwat became ill and had to be urgently admitted to hospital due to a heart condition and insufficient rest. He assigned himself, another lawyer, and Phra Kruba Jo to handle the press briefing.
Representatives of the temple and the Pa Chana Jai Foundation for Peace have officially declared their position, affirming the meditation center's willingness to clarify all concerns to government agencies and the media. Currently, the legal team and foundation committee are urgently compiling important documents, including original land ownership and budget sources, to use as evidence to clarify all facts soon.
Meanwhile, amid criticism from former meditation practitioners, full statements from a senior nun representing the temple have been disclosed to counter the former nun who previously made damaging remarks about the temple. The senior nun affirmed that Kruba Chaiwat Akkachayo is highly compassionate and does not teach distorted doctrines. She revealed that the former nun has a history of mental health issues, including hearing voices and three previous suicide attempts before ordination here. The reason for her departure was not temple-related problems but rather her own high ego that prevented her from adapting to the temple's strict rules and community life.
At the same time, reporters noted that the Facebook page of Kruba Chaiwat Wat Pa Chana Jai in Saraburi province posted before the scheduled 14:00 press briefing today (21 Feb) regarding the Sor Por Kor land encroachment case. The post stated that the Kruba Chaiwat Foundation for Peace announced that Kruba Chaiwat has a pre-existing arrhythmia condition. Due to long-distance travel and insufficient rest, he suddenly fell ill and is currently receiving hospital treatment under medical supervision to rest and closely monitor his condition. To ensure continuous communication and not disrupt media work, the foundation requested that the committee or foundation representatives deliver the press briefing and answer questions as originally scheduled.
The foundation sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this unforeseen circumstance and thanks all media personnel for their understanding and ongoing support of the foundation's activities. This notice is issued for information and with apologies for any inconvenience caused. Respectfully.
