The governor led a meeting of government officials in Roi Et dressed in the "Mahaswesandara Jataka" theme, preparing for the “Great Generosity Merit: Phawed Festival” from 6-8 March.

On 26 Feb 2026, a colorful moment on social media emerged when images were shared of Chatchawan Benjasiriwong, Governor of Roi Et, chairing the monthly February 2026 meeting (session 2/2026) with district chiefs, department heads, and heads of state enterprises under the Ministry of Interior. Attending were Deputy Governors Pranee Wongbut, Pichaya Turasong, and Nantawit Naksang.

Also present were Phairoj Chitjak, Permanent Secretary of Roi Et Province, district chiefs, department heads, heads of state enterprises under the Ministry of Interior, and relevant officials attending the meeting together.


This monthly meeting featured participants dressed as characters from the Mahaswesandara Jataka. Roi Et Province is set to hold the “Great Generosity Merit: Phawed Festival” 2026 from 6 to 8 March, led by

Governor Chatchawan Benjasiriwong, who transformed into “Chuchok,” fully adorned and dignified in the role.

Deputy Governor Pranee Wongbut portrayed “Nang Phusadee” in an elegant traditional Thai imperial costume.

Pichaya Turasong took on the role of “King Sanjay,” embodying the regal aura of a monarch.

Nantawit Naksang assumed the part of the city lord with a commanding presence.

Krit Akkasriwora transformed into “Hermit with Fiery Eyes,” reflecting the power of faith.

Along with all department heads, each played a role from the 13 chapters, creating an impressive image and inspiring beautiful devotion.

This prompted netizens and viewers to praise, “Roi Et really goes all out.”


The Phawed merit festival is a grand merit event involving listening to the entire 13-chapter Mahachat sermon in one day. It is believed to accumulate great merit and blessings for individuals, families, and the nation.

Activities at the event include a spectacular parade, traditional cultural performances, and the highlight “eating rice noodles for merit,” a beautiful devotional custom of the Isan people.
