"Bangkok Bank" has announced an indefinite postponement of the minimum balance requirement for digital accounts. Bangkok Bank accounts with a minimum balance of 2,000 baht, including both the e-Savings and Bualuang Extra Digital savings accounts.
On 10 Mar 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that Mr. Chaiyrit Anuchitworawong, Deputy Managing Director of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, explained that the bank had announced a change in conditions for two of its online deposit products: the e-Savings account and the Bualuang Extra Digital savings account. Starting from 9 April 2026 GMT+7, these accounts were required to maintain a minimum balance of 2,000 baht. This measure was assessed by the bank as a way to help prevent criminals from using digital deposit accounts as mule accounts to some extent, thereby reducing avenues for illegal transactions.
However, the bank has considered that this measure might cause inconvenience to customers, so it has decided to postpone the implementation of this condition change indefinitely and offers its apologies for this.
