PSL Explains Decision to Navigate Mayuree Naree Through the Strait of Hormuz, Affirms Comprehensive Risk Assessment

The owner of the "Mayuree Naree" vessel explained that before deciding to navigate through the Strait of Hormuz, they consulted expertsfrom all sectors.They conducted a comprehensive assessment and enhancedsafety measures accordingly.They affirmed that at that time, there was no specific warning advising against navigation through

the case of the "Mayuree Naree" a Thai-flagged cargo ship attacked in the Strait of Hormuz on 11 March 2026. Reports indicate that 20 crew members were safely rescued by the Omani Navy, while three remain missing and are being searched for. Thai authorities have coordinated with relevant agencies to expedite the search, as previously reported.

Recently, Precious Shipping Public Company Limited, owner of the Mayuree Naree (M.V. Mayuree Naree), issued a statement on 12 March 2026 updating the situation related to the vessel. The company expressed deep regret over the incident and stated it is taking prompt action to assist all crew members. The 20 Thai crew members have been safely rescued and are currently being coordinated with the Royal Thai Embassy in Muscat, Oman, to facilitate their safe return to Thailand soon.

Meanwhile, three crew members remain missing and are still being searched for, with support from the Royal Thai Navy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Thailandis coordinating with Omani government agencies, the Navy, the Marine Department, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), and other relevant international agencies in ongoing search and rescue operations. The Omani Navy rescue team is persistently working to find the three missing crew members.

PSL also clarified that before and during the voyage, the Mayuree Naree strictly followed security measures, adhered to maritime safety recommendations, and complied with all relevant reporting requirements. Throughout the voyage, the vessel maintained communication with UKMTO, the Royal Thai Navy, and other maritime security coordination centers involved.

Additionally, the company explained that the decision to navigate through the Strait of Hormuz was made after a thorough risk assessment before leaving the Persian Gulf. They consulted maritime safety experts, insurance companies, and all relevant parties. After discussions and consultations, it was assessed that the vessel could transit the route with enhanced protective measures in place, and the crew was informed about the regional security situation.

At that time, there were no specific warnings advising against passage through the area. Therefore, PSL considered navigating through the Strait of Hormuz with heightened security measures an appropriate approach under the circumstances.

The company expressed gratitude to the relevant government agencies for their ongoing support and assistance. PSL reaffirmed its highest priority is the search and rescue of the three missing crew members, as well as caring for the 20 rescued crew and ensuring their prompt return to Thailand.
