
The Nursing Council has resolved to postpone the enforcement of the "12-hour work and shift" criteria and to gather feedback for drafting a new announcement.
On 17 Mar 2026 GMT+7, it was reported that the Nursing Council announced the resolution from the 11th Nursing Council Committee meeting regarding the announcement on nurses' working hours for safety in 2026.
According to the Nursing Council, under the 10th Council Committee for the 2025-2026 term, during the 2/2026 meeting on 16 Feb 2026 GMT+7, an announcement was issued concerning nurses' working hours for safety in 2026, published in the Royal Gazette, volume 143, special section 61 Ng, on 10 Mar 2026 GMT+7, with the announcement effective from the day after publication.
This means the announcement was to be enforced starting 11 Mar 2026 GMT+7 as published in the Royal Gazette.
Subsequently, the 11th Nursing Council Committee for the 2026-2030 term considered and resolved during the 2/2026 meeting on 16 Mar 2026 GMT+7 to postpone the enforcement of the announcement on nurses' working hours for safety in 2026. This delay allows the 11th Council Committee to thoroughly study relevant data and gather opinions from Nursing Council members, to help determine more appropriate operational guidelines and to prepare a new announcement on nurses' working hours for safety.
