
The Royal Gazette has published the Lawyers Council regulation stipulating that lawyers whose gender identity differs from their birth sex have the right to dress in internationally accepted styles, such as skirts or long trousers, as they prefer.
On 17 March 2026, the websiteof the Royal Gazettepublished the Lawyers Council Regulation on Lawyer Etiquette (No. 3) B.E. 2568. Exercising powers under Sections 8, 27 (3) (j), and 51, and with the approval of the Special Executive Council of the Lawyers Council under Section 28 of the Lawyers Act B.E. 2528, the Lawyers Council Committee issued the following regulation on lawyer etiquette.
Section 1: This regulation shall be called “Lawyers Council Regulation on Lawyer Etiquette (No. 3) B.E. 2568.”
Section 2: This regulation shall come into force from the day after its publication in the Royal Gazette onward.
Section 3: The following shall be added as paragraph (5) to Section 20 of the Lawyers Council Regulation on Lawyer Etiquette B.E. 2529:
“(5) Male or female lawyers who have a gender identity that differs from their birth sex have the right to dress in internationally accepted styles, including skirts or long trousers, with closed-heel shoes in white, brown, or black, coordinated with their attire.”
