Royal Thai Police Clarify Rumors About New Police Uniforms Confirming No Change in Uniform Color

"Royal Thai Police" They clarify after misinformation circulated on social media about the types, styles, and colors of official police uniforms.

On 19 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant General Chaitphojan Suwannarak, Commander of the Personnel Office and Deputy Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Police, stated that reports spreading on social media claiming the Royal Thai Police are drafting a new ministerial regulation for police uniforms with different colors and designs, causing widespread misunderstanding and criticism, are inaccurate.

The Legal Affairs and Litigation Office of the Royal Thai Police explained that the process for setting police uniforms follows Section 151 of the National Police Act B.E. 2565, which requires uniform regulations to be established by ministerial regulation. The Legal Affairs Office has drafted this regulation compiling all uniform types used by the Royal Thai Police, including 18 standard sets (8 male, 10 female) and 42 special sets, totaling 60 sets.

Before submitting the regulation for approval, the draft must be circulated for feedback from relevant agencies as stipulated by law (referencing legal document No. 0011.14/W626 dated 12 Mar 2026 GMT+7, with feedback requested by 3 Apr 2026 GMT+7). The draft regulation proposes that the characteristics, types, and categories of police uniforms, as well as uniform wearing guidelines, be as specified in this draft.

Police uniforms include hats, shirts, pants, skirts, shoes, rank insignia, unit badges, other emblems, and accessories. Importantly, the police uniform color specified in the ministerial regulation remains the royal khaki fabric color (SNW.01) as before.

Therefore, the reports claiming that the draft ministerial regulation on police uniforms involves changes to the types, styles, and colors of official police uniforms are incorrect and have caused widespread misunderstanding. This is not true.
