“Commander Ded,” Colonel Pongrat Yaemngamriap, Commander of the 11th Ranger Regiment, Preparatory Military Academy Class 42, died in a parachuting accident.

He completed many courses,


especially various types of parachuting, with wings worn on the chest, reflecting his skill and courageous spirit. He was a proud commando soldier from the Queen’s Tiger unit, leading "Tiger 16" during training with the call sign “Leader 201,” excelling in both parachuting and diving.

“Commander Ded, ” Colonel Pongrat Yaemngamriap was a well-rounded, smart officer typical of the Queen’s Tiger soldiers, and a leader who loved and respected his subordinates. In training, he treated everyone equally.

His military skills and character made him a rising star of the 42nd Preparatory Military Academy class and a pride of Lieutenant General Chatchaphat Yaemngamriap, his father, who was also a warrior soldier. His father named him Pongrat, knowing his son would carry on the family’s military legacy.


A bright future in the Queen’s Tiger unit



Colonel Pongrat was a promising officer in the Queen’s Tiger unit before advancing in the 11th Infantry Division, Stryker Brigade, and serving as Commander of the 3rd Battalion, 111th Infantry Regiment. In 2025, he was assigned an important mission to the southern border and became Commander of the 11th Ranger Regiment. He was a representative of the 1st Army Area and took pride in wearing the black combat uniform.

Friends, colleagues, and subordinates mourned his passing during a parachuting mission in Sattahip, Chonburi, which was one of his specialties. However, unexpected accidents can always occur amid strong winds.

Colonel Pongrat recently led a mission to assist forest rangers in Hala-Bala who were injured by wild elephants deep in the forest at Sukhirin, Narathiwat. He mobilized multiple units along with the army’s MI-17 helicopter and the southern border military medical team to conduct a difficult aerial rescue on 12 March 2026.
