Clear check "Insured persons" paying 875 baht per month receive what protection from the "Social Security Office" ?
On 25 March 2026, the Facebook pageSocial Security Office, Ministry of Labour - Social Security Officeposted a message titled "Do insured persons know what protections they get by paying 875 baht?" It stated that insured persons earning 17,500 baht or more have the maximum contribution deducted at 875 baht per month. Those earning less pay 5% of their actual wages (for example, a 10,000 baht salary means paying only 500 baht).
The 875 baht we pay each month is not lost; it is divided to cover us in seven cases as follows:
1. Old-age savings and child support (525 baht) - the largest portion
Child support: Receive 1,000 baht per month per child until the child reaches 6 years old.
Old-age savings: Employers contribute an equal amount, totaling savings of up to 1,050 baht per month for retirement.
2. Covers 4 basic cases (262.50 baht)
Sickness: Free treatment with no spending limit.
Childbirth: A lump sum delivery payment of 15,000 baht (no limit on number of times) plus 1,500 baht for prenatal care and up to 26,250 baht for maternity leave pay.
Disability: Receive lifelong compensation up to 8,750 baht per month.
Death: Funeral expenses of 50,000 baht and family support payments.
3. Unemployment case (87.50 baht)
Receive compensation: 60% of wages if laid off, and 30% if resigning.
If you pay but never use the benefits, don't worry. Most of the money will become "old-age savings" waiting to be returned to you upon retirement. In unforeseen events, your heirs will receive funeral expenses, support funds, and all accumulated retirement benefits, providing financial security for your family.
