GISTDA Reports Continued High Heat Spots in Thailand with 2,018 Detected, Mostly in Conservation Forests

GISTDA found that Thailand continues to have a high number of heat spots, totaling 2,018, mostly in conservation and national reserved forest areas. Among neighboring countries, Myanmar recorded the highest number with 6,352 heat spots.


On 26 Mar 2026, a report stated that the fan pageof GISTDA, the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (Public Organization),reported heat spot data from satellite observations on 25 March 2026, noting that Thailand still had a high count of 2,018 heat spots.

Data from the Suomi NPP satellite's VIIRS system indicated that heat spots in Thailand appeared in conservation forest areas with 918 points, national reserved forests with 809 points, Agricultural Land Reform Office zones with 114 points, agricultural areas with 99 points, communities and others with 68 points, and roadside areas with 10 points.

Meanwhile, among neighboring countries, Myanmar had the most heat spots at 6,352, followed by Laos with 2,213, Cambodia with 651, Vietnam with 592, and Malaysia with 182.
