Relief measures have been launched for the transport sector after a sharp surge in fuel prices. Rider groups and public vans (category 4) will receive 300 baht per vehicle per month, effective from 1 to 30 April.
On 27 March 2026, amid the ongoing fuel price crisis, especially for diesel, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, revealed relief measures to address the impact of fuel prices on the transport sector. The assistance will focus on vulnerable groups affected by goods prices and public travel. The Ministry of Transport has considered support based on actual operation data from GPS and tracking systems during 1–30 April 2026, dividing the relief into two main groups.
The principle is that the government will pay based on actual operation, tracked through the existing Department of Land Transport monitoring system, rather than flat-rate payments. For operators without GPS, a QR Code system will be placed on vehicles to tag data for tracking actual service and incurred expenses.
Regarding mass transit systems such as the Transport Company Limited (BorKorSor) or its affiliated services operating interprovincially, the Ministry will not raise fares during the Songkran festival. Fare rates will be maintained based on fuel costs at 33 baht per liter, with the government compensating for any additional fuel price increases starting from 1 April.
