
The Army clarified the progress of compensation payments following Cabinet resolutions for personnel injured or killed in the Thai-Cambodian border situation, revealing that the matter has been submitted to the Budget Bureau and is currently awaiting approval through proper procedures.
On 30 Mar 2026 at the Army Headquarters, Major General Winthai Suwaree, Army spokesperson, disclosed the progress in safeguarding benefits and compensation as per Cabinet resolutions for personnel injured and the families of heroes who died in the fighting along the Thai-Cambodian border. He stated that the Army recognizes the great sacrifice and is committed to fully supporting them as follows.
1. Regarding benefits managed by the Army, these have already been provided to the families of the deceased, including royal grants based on conduct, war damage compensation, and special pensions.
2. For additional special benefits from the government, the procedures are underway within the bureaucracy, including a 10 million baht compensation for personnel who died in service during December. Since January 2026, the Army has prepared and submitted supporting documents to the Budget Bureau to request expenditure approval from the central budget. Currently, the Budget Bureau is presenting the matter to the Prime Minister for endorsement before it proceeds to the Cabinet meeting for final approval.
The Army spokesperson emphasized, “The Commander-in-Chief prioritizes caring for the rights and welfare of personnel.” He instructed all units and commanders at every level to closely monitor the matter like family, not only regarding paperwork but also by visiting to offer encouragement and understand hardships, ensuring no one is left behind.
The Army affirmed it will continue to monitor progress and coordinate with the Prime Minister's Office to ensure families of the fallen promptly receive their rightful benefits, honoring and boosting the morale of those serving to protect the nation’s sovereignty.
