Free Expressways for Travel During Songkran: Both Tollways and Motorways

If you still have plans to travel during Songkran, save this list. It gathers all the "free expressways" available during Songkran, including tollways and motorways. Check which routes are available.

Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, revealed that he has instructed agencies under the ministry to integrate efforts to implement plans that facilitate safe and convenient travel for the public during the Songkran festival 2026, from 10 to 19 April 2026, a total of 10 days. The campaign is titled “No matter when you leave, you’ll arrive home safely: Smart Travel Songkran 2026,” aiming to reduce accidents, fatalities, and injuries on the Ministry of Transport’s road network by no less than 5%.

In addition, agencies under the Ministry of Transport will provide free services to the public during the Songkran festival 2026 by waiving toll fees or expressway charges during the festival period as follows.

  • Burapha Withi Expressway and Kanchanaphisek Expressway (Bang Phli - Suksawat) will be toll-free for 7 days, from 00:01 on 10 April to 24:00 on 16 April 2026.
  • Udon Ratthaya Expressway, Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway, and Si Rat Expressway will be toll-free for 3 days, from 00:01 on 13 April to 24:00 on 15 April 2026.
  • Toll fees will be waived on Department of Highways Motorway 7 (Bangkok - Pattaya) from 10 to 16 April 2026.
  • Toll fees will be waived on Motorway 9 (Outer Ring Road of Bangkok, Kanchanaphisek Road, Bang Pa-in - Bang Phli section and Phra Pradaeng - Bang Khae section, specifically Phra Pradaeng - Bang Khun Thian Interchange) from 10 to 16 April 2026.
  • Toll fees will be waived on Motorway 81 (Bang Yai - Kanchanaburi) from 10 to 16 April 2026.
  • The under-construction Motorway 6 from Bang Pa-in to Nakhon Ratchasima will be open during Songkran. The Bang Pa-in to Pak Chong section will be used as outbound from Bangkok between 10-13 April 2026, and inbound to Bangkok between 14-19 April 2026. The Pak Chong to Nakhon Ratchasima section will be open for both outbound and inbound travel.
  • Motorway 82 from Bang Khun Thian Interchange to Ekachai, covering 10 kilometers, will be open for use every day, 24 hours a day.
