Professor Tong Posts About Being Abruptly Dismissed by University Without Severance Pay

Professor Tong posted that the university dismissed him without severance pay after he appeared on a popular TV program. Recently, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation has provided clarification.


On 1 April 2026, it was reported that Associate Professor Police Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Krisanapong Putrakul , also known as Professor Tong, a renowned criminologist and former police officer in the suppression division, posted on Facebook that “After I appeared on the programs #HonKrasae, #OpenMouthWithPhakphoom, #PeeArt today (31 Mar 2026), the university ordered my dismissal without severance pay, effective 1 Apr 2026. #GoodGovernance #MinistryOfHigherEducation #ThereIsOnlyOneTruth”.

This prompted many people to offer support and ask for details, with some urging the university to clarify the matter as it remains a public concern.

Most recently (1 Apr), Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, stated he is aware of the situation. He emphasized that the university has the authority to act but assured fairness to all parties. He added that if complaints are filed with the ministry, they will investigate whether proper procedures were followed.

However, the university has yet to issue any statement. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.
