Recently, the Facebook page "Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation" posted a message expressing deep condolences on the passing of "Mr. Boonma Phadang," who sacrificed his life in the firefighting mission.
Regarding the wildfire in Saluang Subdistrict, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai on 31 March 2026, Mr. Boonma Phadang, a 56-year-old wildfire volunteer, worked diligently with the volunteer team until the mission was completed. However, after checking personnel, it was found that Mr. Boonma was missing. Officials and villagers immediately mobilized to search continuously throughout the night.
By the morning of 1 April 2026, at about 10:30 a.m., the search team found Mr. Boonma in a deep stream area, which is steep and difficult to access. It was confirmed that he had died at the scene. Authorities are coordinating to remove the body for religious rites.
The Department of National Parks honors the strong spirit and selfless dedication of Mr. Boonma Phadang, who devoted his physical strength and final breath to protect the forest and the nation's natural resources for future generations.
