The “Khon La Khrueng Plus” program is preparing to open for eligible participants to register anew. This will happen in April, before benefits can be used at participating stores starting in May. Check eligibility conditions.
Regarding the Khon La Khrueng Plus program, which is a flagship policy of the Bhumjaithai Party, previously campaigned on and consistently affirmed that once in government, it could be launched immediately to help reduce citizens' living costs.
Recently, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul spoke about the Khon La Khrueng Plus program, which offers 200 baht per month for 10 months or a lump sum payment. He said the program must proceed. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Akniti Nitithanprapas proposed it. Given rising oil prices, it needs to be enhanced further to provide more support to the people. All ministers are implementing the policy, and those overseeing ministries will participate in drafting it. As Prime Minister, he will add and improve it but will not cut any parts.
When asked if the Khon La Khrueng program could be used to top up fuel, the Prime Minister said not to ask that yet. Proposals need to come forward first, as some actions are legally restricted. They must consider whether to borrow funds for the program. Currently, the focus is on the people. The government must fully assess resource acquisition and management duties to ensure the program can proceed without causing harm to the country.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Akniti Nitithanprapas revealed preparations for the “Khon La Khrueng Plus” program, expected to begin in May. This program will assist both vulnerable groups and previous Khon La Khrueng participants, combining them. State welfare cardholders can also use funds at stores participating in the Khon La Khrueng program through the project now called “Thai Chuay Thai Plus.”
Meanwhile, Lavarun Saengsanit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, said discussions are ongoing to revise the “Khon La Khrueng Plus” program. Thus, no conclusions have been reached yet on eligible groups, individual spending limits, or other conditions. Initially, the program will be renamed “Thai Chuay Thai Plus” and open for new registration in April before starting in May. State welfare cardholders can continue using their existing benefits as usual.
Regarding the recent Thai Chuay Thai program, on 1 April, Nantapong Jiralertpong, Director of the Office of Trade Policy and Strategy and spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, announced that to continuously reduce living costs, the Ministry of Commerce launched “Thai Chuay Thai.” This offers quality product choices as house-brand items at wholesale and retail chains including Makro, Lotus, 7-Eleven, Big C, Tops, Watsons, Foodland, and Gourmet Market.
These products include consumer goods such as soap, shampoo, rice, soybean oil, and palm oil, discounted by 30 - 50%. For example, shampoo (400 ml) was previously 165 baht, now 79 baht; white rice dropped from 155 baht to 79 baht. These items will have price tags displayed both in front of the stores and on shelves.
The previous eligibility conditions for the “Khon La Khrueng Plus” program were as follows.
1. Must be a Thai national.
2. Must be at least 16 years old on the registration date.
3. Must have a national ID card.
4. Must not hold a state welfare card according to the Ministry of Finance's database as of 1 October 2025 GMT+7.
5. Must not have had rights suspended or been required to repay funds in state programs, including (1) Khon La Khrueng Phase 1, (2) Phase 2, (3) Phase 3, (4) Phase 4, and (5) Phase 5.
Reviewing the eligibility for past Khon La Khrueng Plus participants shows that state welfare cardholders could not use the Khon La Khrueng Plus benefit because the government had already credited 1,700 baht to their accounts, paid as 850 baht per month for two months.
Therefore, the condition likely to change is allowing state welfare cardholders to register and use Khon La Khrueng benefits via G-Wallet in the “Pao Tang” application at participating stores.
Updates will be reported as they become available.
