Here's the list of astronomical phenomena in April 2026, featuring anticipated sightings of comets Maps and PanSTARRS, as well as the sun reaching zenith over Bangkok for the first time.


On 2 April 2026, it was reported that the fan pageNARIT, the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand,has revealed the notable astronomical events for April 2026 as follows.

  • 3 April at 04:00 AM – Early morning: Spica near the moon (southwest).
  • 4 April at 04:45 AM – Early morning: To the east, Mercury will be at its greatest western elongation from the sun.
  • From 6 April onward, watch for comet Maps.
  • 7 April at 10:30 PM – Early morning: Antares near the moon (southeast).
  • 16 April at 05:00 AM – Early morning: Mars and Saturn near the moon (east).
  • Between 18 and 23 April (with 19 April recommended), look for comet PanSTARRS.
  • 19 April at sunset – 8:05 PM: Venus near the moon (west).
  • From 19 to 23 April at 05:00 AM – Early morning: Mercury, Mars, and Saturn (east).
  • 23 April at sunset to midnight: Pollux near the moon (northwest).
  • 27 April at 12:16 PM: The sun reaches zenith over Bangkok for the first time.
  • 30 April at 07:00 PM – Early morning: Spica near the moon (southeast).
