On 3 April 2026, MEA (Metropolitan Electricity Authority) reported that peak electricity demand surged due to continuous hot and humid weather in its service areas. This caused a new record for maximum demand in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan, reaching 9,029.62 megawatts (MW) on 1 April 2026 between 15:30 and 16:00, reflecting clear growth in energy consumption during the summer season.
