Update on the "Khon La Khrueng" project under "Thai Chuay Thai Plus" preparing to pay over 20 million eligible people more than 2,000-2,400 baht, expected to start in May.
On 7 April 2026, reporters reported the latest progress of the "Khon La Khrueng Plus" project. Lawaran Saengsnit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, revealed that the ministry is currently finalizing preparations and recently invited Krungthai Bank, the developer of the Paotang application, to discuss operational details.
Regarding how much money will be distributed or if it will be the same as before, no information can be provided at this time. However, it is confirmed that the amount will be higher than before, both in terms of the number of people—from 20 million eligible previously—and the funds per person, previously 2,000-2,400 baht. This is because the government aims to ease the cost of living burdens for the public. It is expected that spending will begin within May. The Khon La Khrueng Plus project is part of the government's relief measures under the name "Thai Chuay Thai Plus." It will be proposed to the Cabinet on 21 April.
Regarding the budget, it depends on the Budget Bureau, which is currently processing it. Initially, the Comptroller General's Department found about 84 billion baht in available funds from budget reallocations and uncommitted budgets, as contracts have not yet been signed. The Budget Bureau will issue a budget transfer decree, which will also be presented to the Cabinet on 21 April.
In the previous Khon La Khrueng program, the government paid 50% (up to 200 baht per person per day), with the following entitlement limits:
1. Must be a Thai national.
2. Must be at least 16 years old on the registration date.
3. Must have a national ID card.
4. Must not be a holder of the State Welfare Card according to the Ministry of Finance database as of 1 October 2025.
5. Must not have had rights suspended or been required to return money in any government projects, including all phases of the Khon La Khrueng program.
Any further updates on registration for Khon La Khrueng Plus or registration for Thai Chuay Thai Plus will be reported accordingly.
