The Meteorological Department forecasts the weather for the Songkran Festival 2026 from 10 to 17 April 2026, warning that Thailand will experience hot to very hot weather with scattered thunderstorms in some areas.
11 April 2026 Meteorological Department The Songkran 2026 weather forecast states that from 10 to 17 April 2026, Thailand will generally have hot to very hot weather with haze during the daytime and scattered thunderstorms in some areas. This is due to a low-pressure area caused by heat covering the upper part of Thailand, while weak southwest winds prevail over the country.
During 16-17 April 2026, a high-pressure area or cold air mass from China will extend over the South China Sea, causing stronger southeasterly and southerly winds over the lower northeastern and eastern regions. Meanwhile, the upper part of Thailand will remain hot to very hot, leading to thunderstorms with strong gusty winds and isolated hail in those areas.
In the southern region, scattered thunderstorms will continue with hot daytime temperatures due to westerly winds covering the Andaman Sea, the South, and the Gulf of Thailand. Sea waves and winds in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea will remain weak throughout the period.
