Green Light Given to Increase State Welfare Card Funds by 100 Baht to 400 Baht Starting 13 Apr 2026

The Cabinet resolution increases the monthly allowance for State Welfare Card holders, also known as the Poor People's Card, from 300 baht to 400 baht, effective from 13 April to 12 May 2026.

On 11 April 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Akniti Nitithanprapas revealed after the first Cabinet meeting that measures to assist the public and businesses, especially vulnerable groups including the 13.4 million State Welfare Card holders, will expand their monthly allowance for essential goods from 300 baht to 400 baht, effective 13 April to 12 May 2026. This is a short-term relief measure. The Ministry of Finance will coordinate with the Budget Bureau to manage the funds for the longer term to mitigate impacts on vulnerable groups.

For the general public, support will be provided to help people adapt and transition to clean energy. The Ministry of Finance will introduce low-interest loan measures to encourage sustainable energy use, such as purchasing electric cars and motorcycles (EVs). Loans will be limited to 2 million baht per person over a 5-year project period. The Government Savings Bank will offer an interest rate of 0.01% with a total loan amount of 5 billion baht. Meanwhile, the Government Housing Bank (GHB) will support special loan interest rates on programs including the 'Yoo Yen Pen Suk' home loan, the number 5 home loan for energy-saving equipment purchases, and solar cell loans.
