"NARIT" announces that 17 April 2026 is the day of the "New Moon Night" when people worldwide will not see the "moon" making the sky darker than usual
FacebookNARIT, the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand, posted a message about "Astronomical Calendar for 17 April 2026: New Moon Night" stating that the "New Moon (New Moon Night) is the period when the moon is between the Earth and the Sun, causing the sunlit side to face away from Earth, so the moon is not visible in the sky. The moon rises and sets close to the Sun.
During the new moon, no moonlight reflects to disturb the night, making the sky darker than usual and ideal for observing celestial objects.
After this, in the following days, a crescent of light on the moon will gradually become visible each day until the Full Moon, shining fully again. This is the normal cycle of the moon orbiting the Earth.".
