Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy reports on Thailand’s and international energy situations, diesel oil reserves and sales, and the fuel fund status as of 17 April 2026.

Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East remain highly uncertain despite diplomatic movements, including the upcoming second round of talks between the U.S. and Iran via Pakistan, and President Trump’s announcement of a 10-day ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon. At the same time, the U.S. has expanded its maritime blockade on Iranian vessels and signaled possible financial sanctions if negotiations stall. These conflicting signals caused energy markets to fluctuate, with oil prices rising on 16 April 2026 due to supply concerns, then easing on the morning of 17 April 2026 amid ceasefire news and renewed negotiation hopes.

WTI traded within a range of 92.90–93.68 USD per barrel, Brent at 97.94–98.67 USD per barrel, and Dubai remained steady at 105.51 USD per barrel. However, markets still face risks from fuel shortages that peace agreements may not resolve immediately.

Regarding domestic oil reserves, as of 17 April 2026, Thailand has enough oil to meet demand for about 109 days, including 25 days of legal reserves, 24 days of commercial reserves, 38 days of oil in transit, and 22 days of confirmed supply. Production and sales of diesel as of 15 April 2026 reached 80.71 million liters produced and 54.47 million liters sold.

As for the fuel fund status on 17 April 2026, it showed a deficit of 61.705 billion baht, with daily diesel subsidies of approximately 185.76 million baht.
