FacebookEpidemiology Division, Department of Disease Controlposted a message stating, "Hepatitis A virus is closer than you think. In 2026, there were 651 cases, higher than the 5-year average and more than the same period last year.
Symptoms to watch include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, followed by yellowing of eyes and skin. The incubation period averages 28-30 days. Many may not realize they are infected.
The age groups with the most cases are working age: 30–39 years, 40–49 years, and 20–29 years. It spreads easily, often within the same family, through food consumption and sharing drinking glasses, and commonly outbreaks in crowded places like schools, factories, and communities. However, it can be prevented by eating hot food, using shared spoons, and washing hands thoroughly every time."
