Don't miss tonight, April 22 to the morning of April 23, 2026, an invitation to watch the 'Lyrids Meteor Shower' expected to have a peak average rate of 18 meteors per hour. It can be observed nationwide if the sky is clear and free of clouds.
FacebookNARIT, the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailandposted about 'Lyrids Meteor Shower' stating: "From the night of April 22 to the morning of April 23, 2026, the Lyrids meteor shower (with a peak average rate of 18 meteors per hour) will begin to be visible around 10:00 p.m. toward the northeast on April 22, continuing until dawn of April 23. The radiant is located between the Hercules and Lyra constellations (peak activity expected at 2:40 a.m. on April 23, 2026)."
Meteor watching can be done nationwide if skies are clear and cloudless. It is recommended to observe from a dark area with no light pollution.
The Lyrids meteor shower occurs when Earth passes through the debris trail of Comet C/1861 G1 (Thatcher), which leaves dust as it orbits the Sun. Earth's gravity pulls this dust into the atmosphere, where it burns up, creating bright streaks of light across the sky. The radiant point is between the Hercules and Lyra constellations."
