
The Energy Fund Committee has approved an increase in diesel fuel subsidies due to ongoing surges in global market prices, leading to a 0.60 baht per liter increase in retail prices effective 1 May 2026.
On 30 April 2026, the Energy Fund Management Committee approved raising the subsidy for regular B7 diesel by 0.94 baht per liter to a total subsidy of 3.12 baht per liter. This results in a retail price increase of 0.60 baht per liter, bringing the price to 40.80 baht per liter. For B20 diesel, the subsidy was increased by 0.74 baht per liter to a total of 9.18 baht per liter, also causing a retail price rise of 0.60 baht per liter to 33.80 baht per liter. These changes take effect from 1 May 2026.
The price adjustment follows a rise in global market prices. On 30 April 2026, the price of diesel in the global market closed at about 179 US dollars per barrel, while gasoline closed at around 138 US dollars per barrel. This is up from 22 April 2026, when diesel closed at approximately 167 US dollars per barrel and gasoline at about 129 US dollars per barrel.
Currently, the Energy Fund's daily expenditure is estimated at171.51 million baht.This allows the fund to effectively help manage future energy price crises.
